Solano College Auto Technology Learning Center
The design is open and transparent, putting program activities on display for visitors. A dedicated manufacturer’s display area allows industry partners to showcase the latest automotive technologies. To support contemporary learning strategies, we have incorporated small-group areas such as the "Flex Bay" for electric vehicle instruction and an outdoor learning plaza. Additionally, "Go-Pro" live-streaming technology will be used to provide students with a closer view of focused instructional activities.
The project also includes extensive sustainable design features, such as rooftop solar panels, high-efficiency HVAC and lighting systems, electric vehicle charging stations, and rainwater collection.
As the project Designer I was responsible for refining the planning and design of the facility through a design-build best value competition process. The design was well received and we won the competition.
