Mariposa . Joshua Tree, CA 

Situated on a high plain overlooking Joshua Tree National Park with 360-degree mountain and desert views, the site is envisioned as a resort-style retreat. The project features a three-bedroom primary residence, including two guest rooms designed for flexible use as visitor accommodations or hotel-style rentals. Additionally, a second unit contains two separate two-bedroom ADUs for income generation.

A V-shaped floor plan was to create an enclosed courtyard, which expands the living space while providing protection from the desert elements. This streamlined form also helps reduce construction time and costs. This plan along with the forms create an figurative butterfly shape. Like two butterflies taking a rest in natural landscape from their long journey.
