As the Project Manager for WET Design, I was responsible for revitalizing this project. I spent three months in Dubai collaborating with WS Atkins, Dutco Balfour Beatty, and various suppliers to develop the intricate architectural, electrical, and mechanical systems required for precise water control and long-term maintenance.
The technical demands of the project were significant:
- Stone Fabrication: All stone was 3D modeled and processed in the United States to ensure precise cuts and engravings for pieces of unique sizes and shapes.
- Glass Engineering: I worked with local fabricators to develop a combination of concealed fasteners and laminates, allowing the towers to remain transparent while hiding internal equipment.
- Material Sourcing: We engaged a glass aggregate supplier in Utah for specific color and sizing, and Indian stone fabricators to cut cobbles that achieved the desired water cascade effect.
Bringing this project back on track was a truly herculean effort, and I am proud of the complex details we executed to bring it to life.
