San Diego Sixth Avenue Pedestrian Bridge

The Sixth Avenue Pedestrian Bridge concept was developed in collaboration with Rob Quigley as part of my work with the SD Commons advisory committee. Our proposal aims to connect downtown San Diego to the southwest corner of Balboa Park.

The plan introduces a gently sloping pedestrian walkway starting from the south side of the I-5 freeway, extending along Sixth Avenue through a designated node into the park. This design is intended to activate underutilized areas of the park while providing accessible entry from the downtown core. Key features of the envisioned path include:

- Pedestrian Amenities: Integrated seating with bay views and sound barriers to mitigate freeway noise.

- Enhanced Connectivity: A separated bike lane connecting downtown cycling infrastructure to the Bankers Hill neighborhood.

In my role, I supported Rob with modeling, building planning, city planning research, and design inspiration. Notably, the project renderings were created in a style reminiscent of 1920s-era Balboa Park advertisements.
